The Panerai PAM00424 is a very stunning watch. Although the simple design there is so much detail that goes into this vintage looking watch. The roman numerals on the top half of the dial and the arabic numerals on the bottom half of the dial is very unique and definitely adds some character to this Panerai. The 424 is very similar to the PAM00448 Radiomir. However the 424 being more wearable due to having a scratch resistant sapphire crystal compared to the PAM00448 with the very scratch able Acrylic (nice word for plastic) crystal.
Many watch aficionados say that 47mm is to large for a wrist watch. The great part about Panerai is that with the 47mm they are actually sticking to their ‘roots’ as the original Panerai that the Italian Navy Black Seals wore while diving were actually 47mm in size.
The Hublot King Power Diver is definitely an oversized dive watch! It almost makes you think it may be to big to actually use it when diving. It would probably get in the way and caught on everything. I have a saying “There is no replacement for displacement.” Normally I am referring to car engines. If you have a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder vs an 5.7 liter eight cylinder. If you do the equal amount of modifications the 8 cylinder will prevail.
When it comes to watches and being ‘functional’ as a dive watch large displacemet may only be good when it comes to viewing the time for when you need to come up for air. The Hublot is definitely a cool Dive Watch however if you actually had to use it for diving it might not be ideal. In my opinion the Rolex Submariner is the ultimate dive watch.
